Renowned Assamese singer Angarag Papon Mahanta celebrates his 47th birth anniversary today on Thursday. Angarag Mahanta popularly known as his stage name Papon has a massive fan following worldwide .
Angarag Papon Mahanta is the son of Khagen Mahanta and Archana Mahanta who were much-loved and popular singers of Assam.
Papon has given innumerable hit numbers to his fans both in Assamese and Hindi. Apart from Assamese and Hindi , he has sung in Bengali, Marathi and Tamil . He recently had sung a trilingual love song “Koi Nidiwa Kiyaw” with Shreya Ghoshal in Assamese, Bodo, and Tiwa Languages .
Papon started his career in music in 1998 with the Assamese song “Nasaba Sokule” from the album Snigdha Junak. In the year 2004 he released his first album, Junaki Raati. Almost all his Assamese songs are considered favourite
