A weird incident has come into light recently after in a report submitted to a special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (1985) court, the Mathura police said rats consumed more than 500 kg of marijuana worth Rs 60 lakh seized and stored in the warehouses of Shergarh and Highway police station.
The police was earlier directed by the court to produce 586 kg of marijuana that was confiscated as part of an investigation in a case registered under the NDPS Act. The police station had seized 386 and 195 kg of marijuana in two separate cases.
As per reports the police prosecutor informed the court that the remaining marijuana from the huge consignment was destroyed by the officers.
As per reports ,the police prosecutor told the court “There is no place in the police station where the stored goods can be saved from the rats. Officers destroyed the remaining marijuana from the huge consignment” .
“Being small in size, the rats have no fear of the police, nor can the police officers be considered experts in solving the problem,” ANI quoted the prosecutor as telling the judge.
As per further reports , the Mathura police team has been instructed by the court to resolve the mice issue and produce evidence of rats consuming the confiscated marijuana. Regarding the matter the police have been asked to submit a report on it with evidence by November 26.
Earlier also a similar case was reported in the year 2021 where over 1,400 cartons of liquor worth over Rs 35 lakh were claimed to be consumed by rodents after those liquors found missing from the strongroom of Kotwali dehat police station in UP’s Etah, the policemen claimed that rats chewed up plastic cans containing illicit liquor, broke the glass bottles and damaged the bags .
