Manipur is hosting the first ever three-day ‘floating’ photo exhibition organized by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Central Bureau of Communication Regional Office, Imphal, Manipur at the Loktak Lake from Wednesday.
The exhibition on a specially constructed floating platform on the Lake can be accessed by a wooden causeway from the shore. The colourful floating stage with the cultural items is seen attracting the crowd and getting engaged with the exhibition.
Such an arrangement is happening for the first-time attempted by the Central Bureau of Communication in its history of over 50 years. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr RK Ranjan, Union Minister of State for external affairs and education, in the presence of B Narayanan, director general (NEZ), Guwahati and Tongbram Robindro Singh, chairman of MSPDCL, government of Manipur, among other dignitaries.
During the first day cultural items by departmental artistes and private troupes of CBC, RO, Imphal were also performed on the floating stage. And apart from this a dance by the fishermen and fisherwomen was performed around the lake on boats. Around more than 85 Manipuri language creatives of ‘Eight Years of Seva, Sushasan, Garib Kalyan’ and creatives of around 11 unsung Manipuri freedom fighters are being displayed in the exhibition. This will remain open for display till Friday evening.
During his speech, Union minister RK Ranjan Singh said that the exhibition showcasing the mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will probably be the first ever floating exhibition across the globe.
He also said that this remarkable event will be able to highlight the various achievements of the Governments at the Centre and state under the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Director General (NEZ) B Narayanan, mentioned that the aim of the floating exhibition is to attract the youth with its novelty and innovation.
