Three new species were documented during recently conducted three-day bird survey in Arunachal Pradesh. The three new species are – the Spotted Redshank, the Black-Headed Gull, and the Peregrine Falcon.
The Arunachal Pradesh Birding Club organized the event in collaboration with Ziro Birding Club in Ziro in Lower Subansiri district, the migratory bird survey was conducted at Swkhe lake, Borang Aji, Pigey Aji, Khogebo Aji, and adjoining areas.
As per reports, during the survey ,a total of fourteen winter migratory bird species were documented. However, the Spotted Redshank was photographed for the first time in the area.
Usually around hundreds of different migratory birds flock into the valley every year.
The Ziro Bird Walk was initiated in 2019 to bring awareness among the locals about these migratory birds and also to conserve nature and wildlife to preserve and enhance the diversity of flora and fauna in the region.
