According to reports , Tripura is all set to get its first dental college by the next academic session starting June or July. The dental college will be set up in the new building of Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital in Tripura, stated legislator Dr Dilip Kumar Das . Dr Dilip Kumar Das is also the head of the IGM Hospital’s Rogi Kalayn Samity.
As per based on recommendations from an expert committee, the health department has already constructed some classrooms, operation theatre, pathology lab and administrative work in Indira Gandhi Memorial.
Tripura Chief minister Manik Saha and Health Secretary Dr. Debasish Basu on Tuesday visited the new seven-story building of IGM hospital to look after the newly constructed infrastructure of the dental college.
According to reports the college will function from the new building of the hospital and later it will be shifted to Khejurbagan near Raj Bhavan where in that area five acres of land has been allocated.
As per further reports the Tripura CM ,who is also the health minister will approach the Dental Council of India (DCI) to visit the college for affiliation .
