Have you ever heard about the Land of Snakes In India , probably you might have seen pictures or videos of this unique and strange place called the village of Shetpal in Maharashtra which is known for its snakes.
The villagers of Shetpal live together with the snakes and infact the snakes are not treated as mere reptiles but the snakes are actually treated with respect ,love and care just like a family does.
In this Shetphal Village in Maharashtra people reside and live with deadly cobras without any fear of being harmed or bitten . Located in Solapur district in Maharashtra, Shetphal Village is roughly 200 kilometers from Pune. Surprisingly it is said that you will find more snakes than humans in this village. Because every house and every corner of this village has a snake.
Visitors in this village will find the reptile creatures everywhere in the town. The snakes are not only adored and treated like a family but they are also given permanent residence in the village homes. The Snakes roam around freely just like another member in the family and they roam around without any barrier in the village just like any other resident.
Basically they are found in each and every household. The villagers take care of the snakes and even fed them well. As per reports , the snakes have a dedicated spot inside the house given by every household. The cobras are given a specific place similar like a temple and the snake habitation is known as devasthanam, and the villagers are extremely attentive and loyal that they even include a specific space for the snake while building a new home .
However you might also wonder that the cobras are free to roam around without being harmed but what about the childrens ? How the children are supposed to roam with those deadly snakes around ? Well in reality the children play with the snakes just like any other toy , and surprisingly there is no case of anyone being harmed by the snakes since no one has ever been bitten by snakes in the village.
Yes its weird but its true ….
